SIDE DISH (XLM 8/24/11): Be United
Side Dish - Be United (Paul wrote 1Corinthians to the church of Corinth to resolve a number of disputes on religious and ethical matters. In addition, he explains doctrinal issues, encourages UNITY and love among the believers, and warns against worshiping idols)
This is quite short but precise. In the church of Corinth, there have been many disputes and divisions as some say “I follow Paul”, “I follow Peter”, “I follow Apollos”…This shouldn’t be. Paul said that not one of us died on the cross where Jesus died. Jesus died for us, and only in Him can we find Salvation and life. Christ is not divided.
Paul said in verse 10b “Be completely united, with only one thought and one purpose”. Follow Christ.
In verse 17, as for Paul he said, “He sent me to tell the Good News and to tell it without using the language of human wisdom in order to make sure that Christ’s death on the cross is not robbed of its power”.
This is in line with the great commission on Matthew 28:19-20. He sent us to preach the Good News. We should be united in this purpose and will of God.

Soli Deo Gloria!
