I just shared this from a friend in my LiveJournal and finds it very helpful in reminding the Church of what we are ought to do.  Jesus said “Go and make disciples” not “Go and make converts”..We should be more after the quality than quantity…make DISCIPLES…This is how discipleship is important to unify the church.

It was He who “gave gifts to people”; he appointed some to be apostles, others to be prophets, others to be evangelists, others to be pastors and teachers.  He did this TO PREPARE ALL GOD’S PEOPLE for the WORK OF CHRISTIAN SERVICE, in order to build up the body of Christ. - Ephesians 4:11-12
